Basketball Drills

Drill 1

Normal Flexing 

Start with fingers straight.  Using the Flex-Shot trainer do the standard wrist flexing by flexing the wrist 20 to 40 times.  This increases the wrist strength while making the straight shooting muscles dominate. 

 

Drill 2

Finger Flexing

Now use the Flex-Shot to exercise the fingers for release strength.  Flex fingers only until they are bent. Do this about 20 times on each hand. This helps to give the shooter a soft touch.

 

Drill 3

Overhead

 

Using the Flex-Shot, practice shooting above the head.  Extend the arm until it is at it's furthest point. This will help the player learn to extend the arm on shots. 

 

Drill 4

Freestyle

Practice shooting with a high release.  This will take some time to adjust to.   Do it when it won't matter the next day because it may cause relearning of the entire shooting mechanics.
